Conservative Norfolk MPs are working together to push for improvements across the county. ‘We speak with one voice when we say that Norfolk must not get left behind. The Norfolk Eight will keep pushing the case for Norfolk and for our whole region. Improving the Ely North rail junction, delivering Norwich in 90, dualling the A47 and providing decent digital infrastructure – both broadband and mobile – are key to Norfolk levelling up with the rest of the country. The Chancellor acknowledged it is very important for Norfolk to have better infrastructure and agreed to look at the projects ahead of the budget.’ We lobbied Sajid Javid ahead of the March Budget and sent submissions into the Treasury for consideration. We will continue to make the case for Norfolk.

Farming Environment Secretary George Eustice confirmed the expansion of the Seasonal Workers Pilot to allow farmers to hire up to 10,000 workers in 2020.This is excellent news and something I have been lobbying extensively on. I have met farmers from across the constituency who rely heavily on migrant workers to harvest their crops - the expansion of the scheme will provide certainty for farmers. In an age of mechanisation, there is still the need for human touch, like in apple picking. Earlier in the Autumn I joined a local Fenland fruit grower to see first hand the delicate nature of the crop, so this week's announcement is extremely positive.
