Minutes of the meeting of Wereham Parish Council

October 2008

Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 9th September 2008 at 7.30p.m. in the Village Hall.

Present: R. Lankfer - Chairman: Mrs. Willis: P. Markwell : D. Pickston : C. Humphries together with 5 members of the public.

Apologies: P. Norris

1. Minutes: It was proposed by P. Markwell and seconded by Mrs. Willis that the minutes of the meeting held on 8th July 2008 be signed as a correct record.

2. Matters Arising: R. Lankfer confirmed that he had attended the meeting regarding a Unitary Authority and it was his opinion that in view of the known feelings of this Parish Council the clerk should write stating we wish to keep the status quo. Wicksteeds Inspection Report - various items need attention and these will be dealt with in the near future. A discussion then took place regarding the goal / netball post and a meeting is to be requested with Mrs. Koopowitz, the Clerk and Councillor(s) after which the clerk is to proceed with the results of the meeting. Quotations were received regarding attention to the Willow trees around the pond - Acorn Services was £750.00 per tree and C.G.M. was £1050.00 per tree both plus V.A.T. - it was agreed that additional quotations be sought. It was also confirmed that electricity cables are in the branches of these trees. The memorials in the Cemetery will be checked in the next few weeks.

3. Planning Decision: Downham House Farm - construction of dwelling - refused Planning Application: T. Hewitt C. of Use from Residential Care Home to 3 dwellings, the Manor - recommend refusal breaking up the curtiledge of a listed building and strongly object to any materials other than brick and/or flint being used on any part of the building including boundary.

4. Payments: Wicksteeds £76.38: Pearce and Kemp £204.87 and CGM £115.74- proposed by P. Markwell and seconded by D. Pickston pass for payments.

5. Correspondence: New name - Dill Cottage, 4 Back Lane: W.N.B.C. Mayors Civic Award: Norfolk Link: Norfolk Matters: N.R.C.C. Sign Post: Playing Field leaflet: Norfolk Assoc. of Local Council A.G.M. 20/09/08: Norfolk Police Performance& Delivery booklet: W.N.B.C. Funding Opportunities - all noted. Donation requested from W.N. Citizens Advice Bureau and Tapping House - both noted.

6. Any Other Business: The sign Wereham Row needs to be renewed, the footpath from Crown Gardens to Flegg Green is overgrown, the gulley cover at the corner of the Manor garden is lifting probably due to a blocked drain - clerk to contact the County Council. There are loose flints and weeds outside the old Post Office and the area needs attention.

The meeting closed at 8.35 p.m.
