Wereham News -October

Wereham Craft Group.

We have had a very good month. The summer Fayre was excellent and the new layout worked extremely well. The craft group stall was in the village hall and we sold £145.00 worth of goods and this money has now been paid into village hall funds. Other craft stalls seemed to do very well also. Philip sold several of his metal craft items that he makes.
We are holding a pre- Christmas craft fair in the village hall on 4th November 10am until 4pm. I have booked some new crafters this time who have not been to Wereham before so do please come along and do some early Christmas shopping. We have just 2 tables left if anyone is interested in showing their goods; please contact me for more details. We will also have the craft stall out at Wereham Tots one Friday in December, please keep a lookout on face book, G4 and local papers for the date or contact me in late November. The craft stall will also be at the Christmas Bazaar in December when there are also many other attractions. New members welcome. Contact me Rosemary on 10366 501330, 07749240606, e-mail rosemary.pease@btinternet.com.

Wereham News – September

Wereham Church Festival

Church and Community came together in February to plan our 2017 Festival. Five months later, it all came to fruition .
Sunday 16th July dawned with mixed weather forecast but the day was a great success with lots of people coming to enjoy a traditional village occasion.
A myriad of stalls including Horse Shoes, Hoop-bowls, Hoop-la, Sand in a cup, Bean bags, Ear-phones, Tombola, Plants ,
Water or wine? Shove-halfpenny, Play your cards, Cakes and Produce, BBQ and drinks and a comprehensive raffle .
A new departure this year was Barry and Marcus Hawkins who spent a very busy day valuing antiques and collectables .
Inside the Church were displays by Wereham Tots, Messy Church and Wereham Heritage Group together with beautiful
flowers and organ music . A P/A system had been kindly loaned and behind the scenes, a financial structure was in place .
Members of Wereham PCC are extremely grateful and wish to thank all the people who made the festival such a success –
the stall holders, planners, those who donated goods and items, flowers and plants and those who made generous donations.
Grateful thanks go also for fuel and meat for the BBQ, to Barry and Marcus Hawkins, to all contributors to the displays and
to the team who set up the infrastructure and cleared up at the end .
This was a real Community and Church Festival to which many people devoted much time and energy and it resulted in a
magnificent total of £1,898.23.

Wereham Heritage Group invite you to ‘come and have a mardle’

Join us in the Village Hall on Saturday 22nd July, 2-4pm for an afternoon of reminiscing and refreshments!
Old photographs, postcards, newspaper clippings and original film footage are among the items on display for you to enjoy.
‘Mardle’ is an example of local dialect, meaning to gossip or chat.
This is a much-requested follow-up from a very successful event held last year, which saw visitors of all ages explore Wereham-past. This mardle promises to be an afternoon of nostalgia, and a chance to meet up with familiar faces. Our collection is always expanding and we greatly appreciate new material. We have the facilities to make copies of documents, leaving you with the originals in a matter of days.
For additional information about the mardle event, or to discuss donating or lending material please contact a member of the committee or email us – werehamheritagegroup@gmail.com.
